We know how important the instrument rental process can be for beginning your musical journey. As musicians ourselves, many of us started playing on rental musical instruments at a young age. Our experience on both sides of the rental process helped us design our Rent+ Program to provide many benefits you won’t find with other instrument rental plans.

We know you need freedom to try an instrument, or multiple instruments until you find the one you love! Renting gives you the opportunity to try it all AND Rent+ is built to make it easy!
Free Exchanges
You can exchange instruments as many times as you want in the rental period until you find what suits you! Simply bring your rental instrument into the store with all the original accessories and swap it for the next one you want to try.
Month to Month
Rent+ is a month to month rental that can stop anytime by returning the instrument to the store with all the original accessories before the next billing date. It’s easy for you to cancel.
Accrue Purchasing Credit
As you make monthly rental payments, 18-24 months of the base rental payment (excluding maintenance and taxes) can be accrued and used toward the purchase of a new instrument of equal or greater value to the one you’ve been renting. So, when you’re ready to purchase, you’ve been paying it forward! PLUS, If you purchase in the first 6-12 months of renting, you receive a 15-20% discount off the purchase price. (1-6 months: 20% 6-12 months: 15%)
Rewards for Referrals
You can’t pay us a bigger compliment than to tell your family and friends about us! To show our appreciation, you earn $25 of store credit when your referral signs up for a new rental contract. Store credit can be used toward any purchase! Just have your friends and family include your full name in the referral box at checkout on their rental contract.
Essential Maintenance
Your monthly rental fee covers just about any accidental damage that happens to an instrument, as well as regular servicing and maintenance to keep the instrument in top playing condition! It also covers full cleanings and play condition evaluations. Put your mind at ease, we will make sure the instrument is in perfect playing condition.

Accrued Credit
For every month you rent with us, you are earning credit towards purchasing an instrument of your own! We know the instruments in our rental fleet are not forever instruments; they are beginner level instruments intended to give you an easier means of learning and an opportunity to discover which instrument best suits your love of music!
Maintenance & Protection
When you sign up for your rental, you will have a maintenance and protection charge that covers just about any accidental damage that happens to an instrument, as well as regular servicing and maintenance to keep the instrument in top playing condition! This is especially important for band instruments that travel. Instrument full cleanings and servicing normally start at $95, but this is all included and covered under this plan!
Swaps & Size Exchanges
The beauty of renting is the lack of commitment and investment you have in one singular instrument. It gives students the ability to try an instrument out to see if it's the right one for them! We take that one step further and offer free instrument swaps with carry-over credit. Instrument swaps on the same or greater value level can transfer credit directly.
No Term Agreement
All of our rentals are on a month to month basis. There is no term commitment when you sign up! This means that you can return your rental at any time or keep it as long as you want! There is no extended day cancellation policy, and no cancellation fees. As soon as you return it, we stop the rental charges.
Rent+ FAQs
In most cases, please stop by our store front at 651 Topeka Way #300 in Castle Rock to pick up your rental. However, we may drop off at your school if we are working with your director! You will see this as a pick up choice during checkout if it’s an option.
While you are expected to keep up on the rental instrument’s essential maintenance, there are no additional costs for doing so! Your monthly rental fee includes essential maintenance every 6 months. The Maintenance and Protection fee covers regular servicing and maintenance to keep the instrument in top playing condition! This can include full cleanings, minor repairs, and play condition evaluations. Keeping up with routine maintenance visits will also keep you from having to pay costly extras because of the build up of use. Plus, keeping the instrument in top condition makes it easier to play and easier to learn!
Simply schedule to bring it in or drop it by our store front at 651 Topeka Way #300, Castle Rock, Co 80109. We will fix it, or swap it for another instrument if necessary so the student doesn’t lose practice time! We know that after the long band season many school band instruments need maintenance, we are open Monday-Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm.
No, we are sorry, but this is a very important benefit of Rent+! Even in the best circumstances, accidents happen, and believe us when we say you don’t want to take the chance of needing to pay those expenses on your own! Remember that this plan also covers essential maintenance that instruments need to keep them in tip top playing condition. It is so important to keep an instrument 100% responsive and easy to play, especially for a beginning student!
On the topic of damage, accidental or otherwise, we request that you notify Music Makers immediately when beyond-basic repairs are needed. In some circumstances, Renters will be responsible to pay for repair fees that are in excess of the amounts listed below. It is important to note that Essential Maintenance does not cover missing parts, the restoration of finish, willful damage, damage due to careless handling, or the replacement of expendable accessories such as mouthpieces, ligatures, mouthpiece caps, reeds, oil, swabs, strings, rosin, drum heads, drum sticks, etc.
- Base Rental Price $18-$22 = Essential Maintenance + $100 Covered Amount
- Base Rental Price $45-$55 = Essential Maintenance + $150 Covered Amount
- Base Rental Price $75+ = Essential Maintenance + $200 Covered Amount
One of the benefits of Rent+ is that you can exchange sizes on certain instruments or switch instruments entirely – as many times as needed! Bring the instrument with all original accessories to the store front and make the exchange at no cost. Please keep in mind that the monthly rental cost may change based on which instrument you’d like to rent!
Simply return the instrument to the store front at 651 Topeka Way #300 Castle Rock, CO with all the original accessories 24 hours before the next billing date. Don’t forget that you will have rental credit built up toward the purchase of a new instrument and will need to use this before/when you turn in the rental!
We recommend you use the musical instrument maintenance kit you purchased when you rented the instrument! It contains items to clean and help maintain your instrument after each practice. Then, once every 6 months we highly encourage you to drop the instrument off at the shop for deep cleaning, routine maintenance and adjustments.
Not typically, no. Our rentals are great instruments to start on, but they are meant to be used by beginners. If you want to own an instrument, reward the student, help build their continued future in music and upgrade to an intermediate or advanced instrument! Upgrading to a higher quality instrument also improves the playability, the sound and the feel – all at the same time.
You can easily use your accrued credit at any point starting 6 months into your rental. The rental credit is 6-24 months of the base payment of your rental and includes a % discount in addition! It can be used on brand new intermediate or professional instruments of similar style to the one you’ve been renting. We will have different styles and brands ready for you to try out, walk you through the differences, show you the costs, your credits, other discounts depending on what is running at the time, and payment options that work for you.
