Classroom Education & Professional Development

Music Makers offers classroom education on instrument care and maintenance for students. Our classroom education sessions provide a unique opportunity to explore the world of musical instrument repair and maintenance. Students gain practical skills in taking care of their personal instruments. These programs are designed to inspire young musicians by offering insight into the craftsmanship behind their instruments, while also introducing potential career paths in the repair industry.

We also offer specialized training for Directors designed for the specific repair needs of each music program. Our Professional Development courses focus on the foundational skills of maintenance and simple repairs. By gaining hands-on experience with basic repairs, Directors can ensure that their school bands run smoothly, minimizing downtime, saving money, and maximizing performance quality.

Classroom Education

Instrument care is super important, but you have a lot of important information to communicate to your students, and let’s face it… after a while they can become a tad selective about what they hear. That’s where we come in! We have an excellent way of getting the students attention when it comes to instrument care. After a few of our “yuck factor” horror stories, we have their ear for just enough time to do some instrument care demos. Who better to learn from than the techs that fix their instruments? We have seen it all!

Musical Instrument Repair Career

Many students involved in band/orchestra desire to pursue careers in the field of music. A dream for a career in music can come to fruition in a multitude of ways, and musical instrument repair is one of those! As a musical instrument technician you are in the world of music–you have an opportunity to interact with and support musicians, play and repair all kinds of instruments, and build into the quality of music. Many of our techs here at Music Makers love their job because they get to work in a field where their knowledge of instruments, technical skills, and love for music are utilized daily!

This is our passion, and we love to share that passion with others any chance we get. If you want to encourage your students to pursue their talents and dreams in the realm of music, we’d love to come and speak to your class about the instrument repair trade!

Professional Development for Band Directors

We’ve heard that it can be difficult for band directors to find professional development courses that are relevant and beneficial to them. We’d like to help! We have three options for directors to access professional development, training, and education relating to the upkeep and repair of instruments.

These options are also great for saving your district money in the long run. If band directors are able to do some of their own repairs or musical instrument maintenance in house, then that’s money that you no longer have to spend on sending the instrument out for repair.
